Russian forces deploy advanced Motiv-3M munitions in Avdiivka
Russia's use of Motiv-3M cluster munitions near Avdiivka reveals the scale of resources invested in the assault
Defense Express writes about it.
In recent attacks on Avdiivka, the Russian forces deployed Motiv-3M cassette submunitions with individual guidance. While the authenticity of a video demonstrating their use remains unverified, the probability of Motiv-3M deployment is significant.
Motiv-3M is utilized in missiles for the Smerch and Tornado-S missile systems and RBK-500 cluster bombs. These munitions, equipped with infrared sensors, descend on parachutes and target enemy armored vehicles, ensuring high-precision strikes from above.
Though not unique, the deployment of Motiv-3M signifies a concentrated effort by Russian forces near Avdiivka. This marks the first reported instance, indicating a strategic shift with potential implications for the ongoing war.
The firing range of these munitions poses a challenge for counter-battery efforts, with the Smerch reaching up to 70 km and the Tornado-S up to 120 km. The introduction of advanced weaponry suggests a heightened intensity in the conflict zone.
