Russian commanders in Luhansk region refuse to man units with convicts due to their poor military training
Russia's authorities are forcing military commanders in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region to man units with convicts from colonies. Officers refuse due to unsatisfactory military training of such recruits

The spokesperson of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalov, reports this.
He stated that due to significant personnel losses, the Russian military command forces its units to be manned by former detainees of Russian penal colonies.
"For example, the command of the 20th Army of the invading Russian troops is trying to refuse to man its units stationed in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region with ex-convicts due to the unsatisfactory level of military training, increased risks of desertion and disobedience," the speaker noted.
- In the last 24 hours, on July 4, the Russians lost 670 military personnel in Ukraine. Overall, since the start of the full-scale invasion, the losses of the Russian Federation have amounted to 231,700 soldiers.
