Russia likely chose media figure to catalyze events in Ukraine: expert on Iryna Farion’s murder
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer with the Information Resistance group, states that Russia excels at creating chaos in society
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Russia is an expert in chaoticizing society. Various types of information and psychological special operations aimed at chaos and destabilization of the internal situation in the country have been implemented for decades not only in Ukraine but also in other countries. For example, in Africa, where people seem to have a completely different worldview and a completely different culture. That is, Russia needs chaos," Kovalenko said.
According to the observer, it's possible that a media personality with a controversial position was selected, possibly involving methods used by Russian special services.
"Iryna Farion had supporters who shared her opinions, but there were those who disagreed with her or outright hated her. That is, there were both supporters and enemies in the society itself. And it was this media personality who was chosen so that her death could catalyze certain events in Ukraine. And this is quite possible," Kovalenko suggested.
Murder of linguist and former Ukrainian MP Iryna Farion
On Friday, July 19, an attempt was made on the life of Lviv Polytechnic professor Iryna Farion in Lviv. An unknown person shot her in the head with a firearm.
Later it became known that Iryna Farion was in a deep brain coma on artificial lung ventilation, but doctors were fighting for her life. However, within an hour, the doctors were forced to announce the sad news: Iryna Farion died in the hospital.
After the politician's death, the crime was reclassified under Part 1 of Article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Almost the entire police force of the city, partly from the Lviv region, is involved in the investigation, as well as operatives and investigative teams from Kyiv, led by deputies of the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine. A number of examinations have been ordered, including ballistics.
