Over 4,000 hectares of forests burn in Kharkiv region due to Russian attacks
Over the past day, 5 fires broke out in the Kharkiv region due Russian attacks. In total, the fire is currently being extinguished over 4,000 hectares
Ukraine's State Emergency Service's department in the Kharkiv region reported the information.
Yesterday, fires broke out in Chuhuiv, Izyum and Kharkiv districts of the region due to Russian attacks. All of them were promptly extinguished by the State Emergency Service.
In total, 7 forest fires are currently being extinguished in the Kharkiv region on a total area of over 4,300 hectares. Rescuers and forestry workers have managed to localize 5 of these fires on a total area of over 2,230 hectares.
“They are working under the constant threat of repeated attacks and high contamination of the forests with explosive devices. 23 units of fire and rescue equipment and 103 rescuers, 4 pyrotechnic and 2 medical teams are involved. Also, 15 units of forestry equipment and 39 foresters,” the State Emergency Service added.
Moreover, the agency said that the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service seized and neutralized 7 units of explosive devices.
- On May 28, reports said that rescuers were extinguishing 18 forest fires in the Kharkiv region. Most of them were caused by Russian troops.
