Russia sets up echeloned system of barriers on temporarily occupied territories with several lanes, each up to 40 km long
The Russian army has set up an echeloned system of engineering barriers made up of several lanes in the temporarily occupied territories
Oleksiy Hromov from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this in an interview with Ukrinform.
“According to intelligence information, the enemy has established a complex system of barriers in the occupied areas. These barriers consist of multiple strips, each ranging from 10 to 40 km long, and they are densely placed,” he noted.
Each line of barriers includes various types of obstacles like anti-tank minefields, anti-tank trenches, concrete pyramids (known as dragon's teeth), anti-tank hedgehogs, and wire barriers.
The enemy also employs mine-traps. Special engineering equipment is needed to overcome these obstacles, but it often gets damaged or malfunctions when dealing with mined areas.
“To enhance our troops' capabilities in overcoming the enemy's explosive barriers, agreements have been made with partner countries for the continued supply of necessary engineering equipment. This includes demining tools and explosives, tank bridgelayers, and equipment for creating passages through explosive and non-explosive barriers,” as highlighted by Hromov.
