Rheinmetall CEO gives details on tank plant construction in Ukraine
Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger says that the company has already created a concept for a tank plant in Ukraine and handed it over to the German government
This was stated in an interview with Armin Papperger by Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
According to the CEO, in order to start construction of a tank plant in Ukraine, the Ukrainian government needs to make such a decision. Notably, the facilities will not belong to Rheinmetall, but the company will lease the premises.
"We will not finance this work, but it should be done by Ukraine or another country that will provide assistance to Ukraine. It would not be our plant, but Ukraine is building it and we are renting it," he said.
In particular, in response to a question about the start of construction, Armin Papperger said that Ukraine should determine whether it will be deployed during the war or after it ends.
"We must give Ukraine the opportunity to defend itself. Such a plant cannot be built in one day. So we need to start planning now. We have developed a concept and presented it to the German government," said Rheinmetall CEO.
