Queen's funeral: Great Britain, the whole world bid farewell to Elizabeth II
On September 19, the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II took place in Great Britain.
The farewell ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II was broadcast live by Espreso TV.
The body of the Queen, who ruled the UK for a record 70 years, was laid to rest on the territory of Windsor Castle, in the memorial chapel of King George VI. Her parents (King George VI and his wife Elizabeth) and sister (Princess Margaret) are buried here, and the Queen's husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, will be reburied here as well.
Hundreds of foreign leaders and dignitaries attended the ceremony to pay tribute to the Queen, whose reign was the longest in the history of the United Kingdom.
In his sermon, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby highly praised the Queen's life in the service of Great Britain and the Commonwealth, Radio Svoboda informs.
"People who love to serve are rare in any field of life. Leaders who love to serve are even rarer," he said, speaking to 2,000 guests, including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Japanese Emperor Naruhito.
