Polish Foreign Ministry talks about Germany's decision that pushed Putin to war against Ukraine
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Piotr Wawrzyk said that if Germany had not vetoed Ukraine's NATO membership plan in 2008, the Russian Federation would not have initiated a war in Ukraine
This is reported by PAP.
Piotr Wawrzyk claimed that if Ukraine had been invited to join the Alliance many years ago in Munich, Germany, the current war in Ukraine would not have occurred. He argued that Western European countries, specifically France and Germany, have historically opposed Ukraine's membership in NATO and the European Union. He also cautioned that now is not the time to delay Ukraine's entry into NATO, even though German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius believes otherwise.
Wawrzyk wondered when the "cool heads" would prevail in making the decision, whether it would be five, ten, or thirty years after the war. Despite this, Poland firmly supports Ukraine's entry into NATO, as it guarantees security not only for Ukraine and Poland but also for the entire region.
