People are dying in occupied Mariupol due to medicine shortage - mayor Boychenko
Residents of occupied Mariupol are dying due to a lack of essential drugs for people with cancer, diabetes, tuberculosis, and thyroid disorders.
The Mariupol City Council shared the update.
The self-proclaimed occupying 'authority' of the city, led by Russian military and collaborators, has been blocking Mariupol residents' access to drinking water, sufficient food and medicine for more than 2 months. As the city council points out, in this way the Russian military actually push people to survive, as people from risk groups cannot wait long for the delivery of the medicines they need.
"Yesterday, a healthy athlete: 2 meters tall and weighing 120 kg had two legs amputated. Why? After experiencing stress due to military operations, he had an insulin crisis. Due to the lack of necessary medicines in the city and without proper medical support, he became a disabled person. And this is not an isolated case. Limbs are amputated instead of high-quality treatment with drugs. 'Quick solutions' that harm and kill the people of Mariupol," said the Mariupol mayor, Vadym Boychenko.
The mayor also called on the international community to assess the humanitarian disaster in Mariupol and the genocide of its residents. He emphasized that everything must be done to save the people of Mariupol.
