No one will stop Russia if it wants to bomb Moldova - diplomat Chalyi

Diplomat Valeriy Chalyi stated this on Espreso TV.

"The Russians planned to secure the “southern corridor” after February 24, to go through Odesa to Transnistria. They still have the desire, the scenario is on the table, no one has cancelled it. Will it be possible to implement it? It depends not even on Moldova, but on Ukraine. Moldova understands that it will not be possible to simply sit through this war, that it is necessary to think, if possible, about their decisive steps," he said.

According to Chalyi, Moldova is sitting and waiting for everything to settle down somehow.

"I am not surprised by the Moldovan position, because there are difficult processes within the society. What Maia Sandu is doing, as the president, she gets out of the situation. There are a lot of pro-Russian subversive forces who want and can change the political situation in Moldova. We have to take this into account in Ukraine when we call on Moldova to take more decisive actions. All the same, I call on the Moldovan government to see where they can contribute," the diplomat emphasized.

According to him, the key contribution would be the intensification of relations with Romania.

"The point is not that it can necessarily be a land corridor. Russia uses strategic aircraft or ships and sends them to Ukraine. And who will stop it  from sending them to Moldova? There is a scenario for an attack, such plans have already been laid for military operations, but they will not be implemented, because Ukraine stands in the way," Chalyi concluded.
