Mobilization in Russia signals weakness - Liz Truss, Ursula von der Leyen in joint statement
In a joint statement, UK Prime Minister Liz Truss and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen have expressed agreement, after Putin's announcement of a "partial" mobilization, that this is a sign of his weakness
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen wrote about this on Twitter.
UK Prime Minister Liz Truss and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, after meeting at the UN General Assembly in New York, agreed that the recent statement of Russian President Putin is a sign of weakness.
"We condemn Putin's actions and agree that his calls to mobilize part of the population are a sign of weakness. Russia's invasion is failing," Ursula von der Leyen wrote.
It was the first personal meeting between Truss and von der Leyen after the UK Prime Minister took office.
"They noted the courage and bravery of the Ukrainian people and emphasized their common commitment to support Ukraine in its struggle as long as it is needed," the statement said.
