Zelenskyy's visit to the White House on September 21 is crucial as he'll meet not just Biden but also global leaders. The primary aim is to bolster international support against Russian aggression in Ukraine

Yuriy Vanetyk, lawyer and political strategist, shared his opinion with 24TV on why the meeting between Zelenskyy and Biden will boost the latter's rating.

The upcoming meeting between Zelenskyy and Biden in the US holds immense significance. It could sway the perception of this event, especially among Americans, and impact political dynamics.

If the American media portrays the meeting favorably, it may intensify pressure on divided Republicans, some of whom wish to discontinue support for Ukraine. Their reservations aren't necessarily about Ukrainian corruption but stem from doubts about Ukraine's ability to win the war and the associated costs for the US. They argue that America should focus on its domestic issues rather than getting entangled in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

“As the US elections draw nearer, everything becomes a political tool. American politicians often prioritize gaining advantages and undermining their opponents over addressing the core issues, which is why criticism is likely to emerge regarding the meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden,” the political strategist writes.

In the US, appearances matter, and some debate whether Zelenskyy should wear military attire or a suit. This seemingly trivial aspect can influence perceptions, as even minor details can affect outcomes.

US stance on Russian Propaganda

Russia's propagandists will attempt to downplay the significance of this week's political events in the United States, including insulting and slandering American leaders and officials.

As for Ukraine’s perspective, its media pay little attention to Russia's rhetoric and opinions about the United States. Even those in the United States who hear negative narratives about America understand that these are baseless allegations and mere propaganda from Russian media.

The timing of the Zelenskyy-Biden meeting holds importance due to the upcoming US elections, with divisions emerging within the Republican Party. Some Republicans oppose the Democrats and advocate applying pressure on Ukraine to negotiate with Russia, suggesting Ukraine make concessions to end the conflict. Nevertheless, these proposals lack logical solutions and are unlikely to succeed without robust international pressure on Russia, given the country's untrustworthy track record.

What is the importance of the meeting between the presidents?

The meeting between the presidents holds great importance, as Biden will need to provide support for Ukraine in the ongoing conflict while also proposing solutions for resolution. While political meetings often carry symbolic weight, they can lead to tangible outcomes.

Additionally, Biden is expected to play a significant role in advocating for Ukraine's NATO membership and discussing increased funding for the country, which will require congressional approval.

This meeting extends beyond Zelenskyy and Biden, involving discussions with representatives from countries with varying stances on the war. It is crucial to consider how Zelenskyy's image is perceived during these meetings, as it can influence opinions about Ukraine and its government.

The meeting's potential to impact Biden's rating makes it more significant than previous encounters between the two presidents.
