Mariupol residents have access to drinking water once a week - mayor's adviser
Mariupol mayor's adviser Petro Andryushchenko has said that people in the city have access to drinking water at best once a week.
He shared the update with Espreso.
"There is problem after problem in Mariupol. Now the biggest problem is drinking water. The main cause of this problem is summer heat. Drinking water in Mariupol is taken from a natural source, not of very good quality. Due to the summer heat, the water level in this source has decreased. If before drinking water was available to people once every two days, now only once a week. We have less water as it's not actively transported. This water, which the Russian military brought, has already begun to bloom. Therefore, drinking water isn't available to people in Mariupol," Andryushchenko said.
He also added that the Russian occupying authorities are exhuming the bodies to create a picture that they are all right.
"We announced information about people's bodies and burials right on the streets of Mariupol. And immediately the occupying authorities began exhuming the bodies. They are doing this to create a picture that they are all right. They are digging up bodies and taking them to a makeshift morgue near the Metro shopping center. Then, when they collect a large number of the bodies of the dead, they are simply dumped in mass graves. Nobody keeps any records. They treat people like garbage. These are just terrible things," Andryushchenko added.
