Lukashenko may announce mobilization in Belarus after recognizing occupied Ukrainian territories as part of Russia - Belarusian political scientist Usov
Political scientist Pavel Usov believes that after recognizing the occupied Ukrainian territories as part of the Russian Federation, Lukashenko may launch mobilization in Belarus and join the war against Ukraine
He shared his opinion with Espreso TV.
"If Lukashenko, as I have already said, recognizes the results of the Russian-staged referendums and supports the occupation of the territories of Ukraine, then everything will unfold according to the most negative scenario. First of all, after recognizing the occupied territories of Ukraine as part of Russia, Lukashenko will be forced to announce mobilization in Belarus. Today, the mobilization potential of Belarus is more than 300,000 people. This is not counting 45,000 people who are already doing military service in the army of Belarus," Usov said.
The political scientist is convinced that Lukashenko is quite likely preparing to join the war against Ukraine.
"Further, everything can unfold according to two scenarios. However, none of them is better than the other. The Belarusian army, together with the military contingent of Russians located on the territory of Belarus, can once again open a second front against Ukraine. Their main task of the day can be - cutting off the supply routes for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the diversion of part of the Ukrainian army from other fronts," he added.
