Kremlin officials secretly contact UK – media
Over the past 18 months, British diplomats have been holding talks with Russian officials on global security amid the war in Ukraine
This is reported by Sky News.
The secret meetings took place in various locations, such as Vienna or New York, as part of behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts. Representatives of the two countries discussed security issues affecting Britain as well as the international community, including grain shortages and nuclear security.
The publication emphasizes that the United Kingdom is not actively engaged in peace talks aimed at a diplomatic solution to the conflict. This was confirmed by a senior British diplomat who participated in some of these conversations.
"We have been keeping in contact and we feel it’s crucial to maintain an open dialogue during the war in Ukraine. We are in no way divvying up parts of the country or making peace agreements on anyone’s behalf, but it’s vitally important to keep that line of contact open," he said.
