Kremlin does not want to let Lukashenko wash his hands of, so risk of invasion from Belarus is high - diplomat Chalyi

Ukrainian diplomat Valeriy Chalyi stated this on Espreso TV.

"Putin and the Russian leadership now need to take full control of Belarus. They don't want to let him wash his hands of the matter as long as Putin and his henchmen are chased through all the courts and tribunals, even in absentia. We know this person, he will immediately change," he said. 

According to Chalyi, in order to prevent this, they want to involve not only him and his surroundings, but also Belarus as a whole.

"From my point of view, the probability of an earlier or later invasion from the territory of Belarus is very high. This does not mean that there will be further military success. It is important for the Russians that the Belarusians enter the territory of Ukraine. They are already moving in that direction - joint units have been formed. Soon it won’t  be clear whether it is the Belarusians or the Russians. They can cross the border. The readiness for this is maximum. I think that the Russians do not believe that they will be able to achieve any military goals with Belarus. They rather want to establish complete control over Belarus," the diplomat believes .
