"I can't live" and I can't stay "under them" - Ksenia from Mariupol about how she managed to escape from hell
A woman who survived and get though horrors of occupied city says she survived only because of hope she had.
Ksenia told about it on air of Espresso.TV.
"What they (the occupiers) have done to the city is what the world needs to know," she said.
"I don't know how many Mariupol residents are left alive. I don't know how we managed to get out. I went back for people twice more because I couldn't leave them. And it was a miracle that I got out and survived. I believe that he helped me from heaven My son (Ksenia’s son died in bombing in front of his mother. - Ed.) It was very scary to drive through these checkpoints. In peacetime, I worked for a humanitarian demining organization. In Russia, organization was officially recognized as a terrorist after conflict in Georgia. This is an international humanitarian mission called "Halo Trast". This organization does a very important job for people who lived on line of demarcation. If they found out about it at checkpoint, I would be taken as a hostage to be exchanged for someone. I understood all this, I still really wanted to go to Ukraine, because to live… is not to live, but I will not be able to stay under them, "says Ksenia.
"We left (from territory of so-called ORDLO. - Ed.) At our own risk, we didn't know whether we would get there or not. We passed 28 checkpoints. All gadgets, all photos and correspondence were checked. We passed by a miracle," woman recalls. Melekine-Mangush-Rozivka-Bilmak-Pologi-Orikhiv-Zaporizhzhya route. Area between Pologi and Orikhiv is completely mined on both sides, both roadside and some sections of the road. There is constant shelling.
"You just go and pray, because there is nowhere to hide. You just have to go and hope. I begged my son to help me, I knew that now he is my angel," - admits Ksenia.
"The first Ukrainian checkpoint was in Orikhiv. People passing first Ukrainian checkpoint are crying. Both men and women are crying. And I cried because it was a great joy that we were able to break through and survive," woman concludes.
