Global security is at stake: Stefanchuk on Russia's threats to blow up Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant
The speaker of Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, has commented on Russia's statements about its readiness to blow up the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP)
The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada wrote about this on Facebook.
"The Russian invaders' statements about the demining of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and their readiness to blow it up, followed by shelling, only indicate that Putin's forces have gone mad and are putting the world at risk of a nuclear disaster", Stefanchuk said.
He also reminded that the Zaporizhzhia NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and the sixth in the world. As you know, the NPP is currently under the occupation of Russian troops, and its employees have to work in constant danger under the muzzles of machine guns in order for the nuclear plant to continue its work.
"But not only Ukraine's nuclear security is hanging in the balance now. The world must be aware of the consequences of the terrorists' actions. And react accordingly", Stefanchuk emphasized.
