Scholz criticised Putin, who condemns Israel's actions and supports Hamas, and said he was outraged by the Russian president's complaints over civilian casualties in the Middle East as the Russian army continues to wage war and kill civilians in Ukraine.
"It really doesn't get any more cynical than that," the chancellor added.

Earlier, the Russian State Duma published an appeal to the UN, stating that the US arms supplies to Israel are "attempts to disguise the failure of US policy in the Middle East".
