From horror in the city, elderly people hung themselves on their own balconies - a resident of Mariupol
The streets of Mariupol were covered with corpses, no one collected them, out of horror in the city, elderly people hung themselves on balconies. When the Russians came, kicked them out of the basement, took them through the village of Volodarske in the Donetsk region by bus to Rostov, Taganrog, Donetsk, people were looking for different options on how to get to the territory of Ukraine
Natalya Grakushenko, an evacuated resident of Mariupol, spoke about the hellish days in Mariupol on Espreso TV.
Natalya shared her memories: "After the shelling of the maternity hospital, we went to the basement. We practically did not show our nose to the street, only men came out who did not let us go out, because the streets were covered with corpses. Therefore, the number of dead people cannot be expressed in words, but these were the central streets of Mariupol. We were told that there are a lot of corpses and no one collects them".
The refugee from Mariupol continued: "There were people who ran to us in the basement, visited one place, and they had their own car and they went to the 17th microdistrict, they came from there, because the 17th is on fire. Such things were told that elderly people from the horror of what was happening around hung themselves on the balconies. This is unthinkable, this is on the verge of madness, no one expected this".
"Then, when the Russians had already arrived, they kicked us out of the basement. They said: "Free the basement, there are buses and we will take you out". So we left Mariupol. They showed us with two fingers where to go. People were taken out through the village of Volodarske, Donetsk region, there were buses to Rostov, Taganrog, Donetsk, other buses are not served there. When they started asking about leaving for Ukraine, they said that the road was blocked, there was no way out, and the commandant's office did not give permission to leave for the other side. People started looking for different options on how to leave for Ukraine", Natalia did not want to talk about her way to Ukraine in an interview so that the route would not be blocked and people could use it.
