France to start training Ukrainian military
France will host up to 2,000 Ukrainian servicemen who will undergo military training in French units within a few weeks.
Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of the Armed Forces of France, stated this, LeParisien reports.
"French President Emmanuel Macron has approved a training plan that will allow up to 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers to be stationed in the country. They will be assigned to our units for a few weeks" - Lecorniu said.
Previously, Ukrainian gunners were trained in France to service Caesar howitzers, which were handed over to Ukraine.
"It is necessary to train a new generation of soldiers who would be able to hold out for a long time. We do this by observing the norms of the law and not becoming a party to the conflict, since we are not in a state of war, but are helping a country at war" - Lecornyu emphasized.
The minister recalled the creation of a fund for the purchase of weapons for the needs of Kyiv in the amount of 100 million euros. According to him, these funds were given by France to Ukrainians, who can use them to buy the necessary weapons, if it is of French production.
