Ex-guard of British embassy in Germany admits spying for Russia
David Smith, who worked as a security guard at the British Embassy in Germany for 8 years, pleaded guilty to spy charges - namely passing secrets to the Russian state

The man pleaded guilty to eight of nine charges brought under the Official Secrets Act at the Old Bailey last week.
On Friday, November 11, the prosecutor's office dropped the ninth count of the indictment.
According to the charges, David Smith communicated with Major General, military attaché of the Russian Embassy in Berlin, Sergey Chukhurov, between October 31 and December 1, 2020, and passed on classified information to him, including details about the activities, addresses and phone numbers of various employees of the British embassy.
This information was allegedly intended for use by Russia for hostile purposes.
