Danilov assesses risk of Belarus entering war and Russia reattacking Kyiv
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council, said that Belarus is not yet going to war against Ukraine, but the threat of a repeated attack by the Russian Federation on Kyiv remains.
Danilov told about this in an interview with LB.ua.
According to him, according to intelligence data, Belarus is not yet planning to go to war against Ukraine, but Ukraine is closely monitoring the situation in the neighboring state.
"Will they advance, will they do some things from there... I can say that we are monitoring this situation, we receive intelligence data every day about the things that are happening there. We understand what is happening directly in society, among those citizens, who have a passport of Belarus. We will watch how the events unfold... So far, our intelligence believes that this will not happen," Danilov said.
He noted that Russia has not given up its initial goal in the war against Ukraine, so the possibility of a second attack on Kyiv cannot be ruled out.
"The Russians do not exclude for themselves the questions they asked on February 24, when they entered the active phase - the destruction of us as a state, the liquidation of the military and political leadership of our country. They did not change their plans. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in this for us. Another fact is that they did not succeed, and we will assume that they are unlikely to succeed," Danilov is convinced.
