China won't be Russia's ally, its goal is to seize leadership from the West - international expert
Dmytro Yefremov, an expert with the Ukrainian Association for Chinese Studies, believes that China is currently pushing Japan and European countries out of the global system of economic relations, and its main goal is to weaken US influence
He said this on Espreso TV.
"China always looks through its glasses, pursuing its own interests, and now they are to maintain friendly relations with the Russian Federation. China and Russia will not be allies, but it is friendship against a common enemy that unites them. Potentially, the countries can have areas of conflict of interest or areas of conflict, for example, in Central Asia and other regions. Still, China and Russia are interested in reducing the influence of the US and Western countries in the world. China sets itself the task of taking over the leadership of the Western world", the expert noted.
Dmytro Yefremov noted that China is following the fairway of international law and fulfilling its international obligations so far.
"The thing is that now China is the beneficiary of today's global system of economic relations, created by the US about 30-40 years ago, and unlike the Russian Federation, China is completely uninterested in breaking this system, because it has adapted and learned to use all the advantages of the system for its own benefit. China is simply pushing other countries that had influence in this system away from the center of gravity and decision-making, as it is currently pushing Japan and European countries. Of course, its main task is to weaken the influence of the US", Yefremov explained.
