China angry with Russia over disclosure of possible arms supply - The Economist

According to the magazine, China wanted any support for Russia to remain secret, as it knows that supporting Russia would undermine its pretence to be a neutral mediator. This is exactly what China stated in its "peace plan" published on February 24.

In addition, the disclosure of Chinese aid to Russia could further poison relations with the US and provoke a negative reaction in Europe.
