China analyzes war in Ukraine, studies how to counter Javelin and shoot down Starlink satellites
China's military-industrial complex is studying Russia's mistakes in the war against Ukraine amid a possible conflict with the US: in particular, it is analyzing how to counteract Javelin and Starlink
Reuters reported the information, citing its own research.
The Reuters journalists reported on a review of nearly 100 articles in more than 20 Chinese defense magazines: the data reveals "an effort across China’s military-industrial complex to scrutinise the impact of US weapons and technology that could be deployed against Chinese forces in a war over Taiwan."
The outlet reported that, according to Chinese military researchers, China needs the ability to shoot down low-orbit Starlink satellites and protect tanks and helicopters from Javelin missiles. Thus, experts are studying the fighting in Ukraine, planning for a possible conflict with US forces in Asia.
"While Chinese officials have avoided any openly critical comments about Moscow’s actions or battlefield performance as they call for peace and dialogue, the publicly available journal articles are more candid in their assessments of Russian shortcomings," Reuters said.
For example, Chinese experts are studying the role of the Starlink network, which provides communications for Ukrainian defenders: China is seeking to find a solution to disable this system. Beijing will also invest more in combat drones, which it is already testing in Taiwan's airspace.
"An article in the administration’s official journal in October noted that China should improve its ability to defend military equipment in view of the “serious damage to Russian tanks, armored vehicles and warships” inflicted by Stinger and Javelin missiles operated by Ukrainian fighters," the outlet added.
