Chance of Belarusian military involvement in Ukraine war meager - Tykhanovskaya adviser
Belarusian troops are not ready to attack Ukraine, Franak Vyachorka, an advisor to the exiled Belarussian opposition leader Svitlana Tykhanovskaya has told Espreso, but the Russian army may use the country’s territory for a fresh offensive from the north.
Belarusian public figure, Svitlana Tykhanouskaya's advisor, Franak Vyachorka, shared the statement on Espreso.
He spoke about the mood in the army of Belarus.
"We know that the morale is very low, there is no way to mobilize people to increase the number of military personnel. Those units that could conduct offensive operations are in an incapacitated state," Vyachorka said.
He added that the military exercises conducted by Lukashenko are a simulation to demonstrate his loyalty to Putin.
"We know that they will not be able to realistically fight any army, and even more such as the Ukrainian one. There is no mood to carry out tasks and go against Ukraine, to support Russia. I would give a slim chance of the entry of Belarusian troops into this war, it is almost impossible. This does not mean that the Russian army will not use the Belarusian territory and 2-3 weeks are enough to return the troops to the south of Belarus and start an offensive again, for example, on Kyiv," the oppositionist believes.
In his opinion, Russia is now using the territory of Belarus less for the war with Ukraine.
"The use of the territory of Belarus is now minimal against the background of February, March and April, when shelling was carried out every day. In 2.5 months, 700 rockets were fired. Now this happens less. There were 4 weeks when there was no shelling. They do this specifically to show who is the master in the house. Lukashenko thus demonstrates his loyalty to Putin. There is nothing for the Russians to conduct an offensive ground operation, they have several missile launchers in Belarus, they serve the Russian military, but there is no one and nothing to conduct full-fledged daily shelling," concluded Vyachorka.
