British street artist Banksy confirms he created seven murals in Ukraine
Anonymous street artist with the nickname Banksy confirmed he created seven murals in Ukraine. In particular, new works appeared in Kyiv, Irpin and Borodyanka
The Art newspaper reports.
"British street artist Banksy has confirmed he has created seven murals in various locations in Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv, suburbs of Irpin and Borodyanka - among places most affected by Russian bombings", the newspaper writes.
In particular, Banksy recognized three of his works. In Borodyanka, there is a picture on the wall of a man who looks like Putin, who is being thrown to the floor by a judo boy. The Russian president is fond of this sport and has a black belt.
Another mural on the ruins of a bombed out building shows a gymnast doing a handstand.
Also in the capital, on Maidan Nezalezhnosti, two children are depicted using a metal tank trap - known as a "hedgehog" - as a swing.
Previously anonymous street artist Banksy has confirmed four more works. In particular, a woman in a dressing gown, hair in curlers, wearing a gas mask and with a fire extinguisher.
Also, a bearded man taking a bath. And another piece in which Banksy appears to have finished existing graffiti of a penis, turning it into a nuclear warhead loaded onto the back of an armoured truck.
New works are Banksy's first public murals in more than a year, although this is not the first time his work has been associated with Ukraine. In March, reproduction of one of his most famous anti-war works, CND Soldiers, was auctioned, raising $106,505 for a children's hospital in Kyiv. Original mural first appeared near the Houses of Parliament in London in 2003 during protests against war in Iraq", the agency explained.
Additional information: Banksy is the pseudonym of an anonymous English underground street artist working since the 1990s. He is also known as a political activist and director. Banksy gained recognition thanks to his satirical street graffiti.
