Boris Johnson will run in Tory leadership election and he is one of the favorites in this contest
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson could enter the race for the leadership of the Conservative Party to replace Liz Truss, who has announced her resignation
This was reported by the political editor of the Times, Stephen Swinford.
"I'm told that Boris Johnson is expected to stand in the Tory leadership contest. He's taking soundings but is said to believe it is a matter of national interest," Stephen Swinford wrote on Twitter.
According to the poll of the Conservative Party members for October 17-18, published on the YouGov service, Boris Johnson is the most popular successor of Liz Truss.
Most members of the Conservative Party want Johnson to lead the government. One in three conservatives (32%) say he is the right candidate. He is followed by former Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak (23%) and current Defense Secretary Ben Wallace (10%).
The Conservative Party is expected to elect a new leader and future prime minister by the end of October.
