Belarus will not intervene in war: most troops are concentrated on Polish border - Serhiy Zgurets
Defense Express analyst Serhiy Zgurets believes it is unlikely that the Belarusian army will intervene in the war on Russia's side, since most of its troops are concentrated on the Polish border, and the Belarusians themselves don't want to fight against Ukraine
The military expert shared his analysis on Espreso.
"The risks of involving Belarus in the war against Ukraine on Russia's side are quite limited. There are about 6 battalions of Belarusian troops on the border with Ukraine. And the majority of the Belarusian army is concentrated 30-50 km from the border with Poland. Despite Vladimir Putin pushing the Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko to such actions, given the situation, the use of the Belarusian army is quite limited. Belarusians don't want to fight," Zgurets said.
In any case, part of the Ukrainian army is on the border with Belarus, because the risks remain.
"But the biggest risks are related to the training of sabotage groups, which can seep through border areas and create dangerous moments for us. The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff understands these risks and takes additional measures, so part of our army is on the border with Belarus. The use of the Belarusian airfield network by Russian aircraft is also a threat," Serhiy Zgurets said.
