Belarus receives new batch of armoured personnel carriers from Russia - Belarusian Hajun
Russia has handed over a new batch of BTR-82A armoured personnel carriers to the Armed Forces of Belarus
This is reported by the Belarusian Hajun monitoring group.
On January 5, an echelon with 34 units of equipment was moving towards Brest. Belarusian Hajun assumes that the 38th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade will receive the new BTR-82A.
Subsequently, this information was confirmed by the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.
Thus, APCS-82A should replace APCS-80, which are currently operated by the 38th Airborne Assault Brigade. Also earlier, one of the battalions of the brigade received BTR-70MB1.
This is the third battalion set of BTR-82A, which Belarus is receiving. The first batch of these armoured personnel carriers arrived in the country in September 2021. It was transferred to the 339th separate mechanized battalion of the 120th mechanized brigade, as well as to training centers. The second batch arrived in December 2021 and was handed over to the 202nd Mechanized Battalion of the 6th Mechanized Brigade.
Belarusian Hajun also notes that in addition to BTR-82A, armoured medical and repair and evacuation vehicles based on BTR-80 were transferred to the Belarusian armed forces.
On January 2, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense extended joint exercises with the Russian army until January 8.
