Belarus purchases body bags, after stockpiles depleted in spring by Russian army's attack on Ukraine - analyst Tyshkevich
Ihar Tyshkevich, an expert at the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, writes that Belarus is buying 1,000 body bags since their preexisting stockpiles were used for the Russian soldiers killed during the initial attack on Ukraine in spring
The analyst shared the details on the air of the Espreso TV channel.
"In the spring, there was a military aggression from the territory of Belarus against Ukraine, in which the Russian military took part. And where did the wounded Russians or their corpses return, for example, from Ukrainian Polissia? They returned to Belarus. It is quite clear in what these corps were transported. Accordingly the supply of material and technical support has been exhausted. And such a purchase should have taken place," Tyshkevich noted.
The expert added that body bags were purchased not so long ago, but the stock has already been exhausted.
"In the system of the medical service of the armed forces of Belarus, there are 5 military hospitals, where not only servicemen are treated or examined, but also veterans of the armed forces and "assigned categories of persons". Veterans, that is, pensioners, tend to die. And the last purchase was during the coronavirus. Since the import is now banned, it is most likely that body bags will be purchased from their own manufacturer, so that money does not leave Belarus," Ihar Tyshkevich noted.
