Belarus calls up conscripts en masse
Belarusian conscripts are being drafted and asked to turn up at the military registration and enlistment office, but no specific reason is given
The Belarusian newspaper Zerkalo reported the news.
Belarusians complain that those who are of draft age but work have to take unpaid leave to comply with the order, and that even those who are unfit for military service are being drafted.
The call-up papers do not specify the reason people are told to appear at the military registration and enlistment office. However, they do threaten criminal liability for not complying with the instructions.
The military registration and enlistment offices calm people down, saying that "no one takes anyone to any war." The reason for the meeting was "mobilization exercises". Most conscripts have their credentials verified and released.
The publication notes that not only men, but women are also drafted.
On June 30, diplomat Roman Bezsmertny said on Espreso that Belarus was the starting point from which Putin would launch an attack on Europe.
