Australia to send surveillance plane to Germany to protect supplies to Ukraine
Australia will send a surveillance aircraft to Germany to help ensure the delivery of humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine
The Guardian reported this with reference to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The prime minister said that the Royal Australian Air Force plans to deploy an E-7A Wedgetail aircraft to Germany for six months. It will be sent there in October to protect multinational logistics hubs through which Ukraine receives important aid.
"We stand with the people of Ukraine. This is a war about the international rule of law, about whether a large nation can seek to impose its will on a smaller nation. This is about national sovereignty. This is about the people of Ukraine struggling to defend their democracy and their sovereignty," Anthony Albanese said.
The aircraft will help ensure the uninterrupted flow of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Australian representatives emphasized that Wedgetail will operate in European airspace, not in Ukraine, Russia or Belarus.
For reference. The E-7A Wedgetail is a surveillance aircraft equipped with a long-range surveillance radar, secondary radar and tactical voice and data communications systems that provide early warning and airborne control.
