About 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers will undergo training in Britain - Ukrainian General Staff
Royal Air Force personnel will train 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers in Great Britain
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Force shared the statement.
"The gunners of the Royal Air Force regiment of the British Armed Forces are part of a three-way training program, which will let up to 10,000 Ukrainians with little or no military experience come to the United Kingdom to undergo intensive "soldier service" courses that will help them defend Ukraine from of Russian aggression," the message says.
The training is said to give volunteer recruits with little or no military experience the skills to effectively conduct front-line combat operations. The course covers weapons handling, first aid on the battlefield, field techniques, patrol tactics and the law of armed conflict.
The General Staff noted that the program is part of Britain's ongoing commitment to support Ukraine and currently amounts to more than £2.3 billion ($2.75 billion) in military aid and includes more than 5,000 units of the new generation NLAW(Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon) and M270 multiple-rocket launcher systems.
About 1,050 British servicemen will be involved in the program, training will take place at the facilities of the British Ministry of Defense. Each course will last several weeks.
The Ukrainian General Staff also reported that the British government promptly purchased AK assault rifles for the training program, meaning that Ukrainian soldiers will be able to train with the weapons they will use on the front lines.
Britain also provides clothing and equipment to support the Ukrainian military.
