Ukraine’s Defense Ministry confirms liberation of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region
On Monday, August 28, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar has said that the Ukrainian military had officially liberated the village of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. Also, over the past week, the Ukrainian Defense Forces de-occupied 1 square kilometer in the Bakhmut direction
She shared the information in an interview with the Military Media Center.
"Robotyne has been liberated and our troops are moving southeast of this settlement," said Maliar.
The Deputy Defense Minister also noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are advancing toward Novoprokopivka and Ocheretuvate "despite the enemy's fierce resistance."
Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated another square kilometer in the Bakhmut sector last week
According to Maliar, there are gradual but steady advances in the Bakhmut direction every week, which proves to be a source of frustration for the Russian army.
"The dominant heights that are under our control are spanning along the southern and northern flanks, which looks like a semi-encirclement (of Bakhmut - ed.) on the map. The enemy is attacking on the northern flank, trying to recapture the positions we have taken there. This is what we are fighting for. There is progress in the southern direction: last week another square kilometer was liberated," said the Deputy Defense Minister.
She emphasized that a total of 44 square kilometers have been liberated in this sector.
According to Maliar, Klishchiivka was the epicenter of the fighting, while Russian forces were also resisting in Orikhovo-Vasylivka, but Ukrainian troops were advancing. In addition, Russian forces carried out unsuccessful offensives near Marinka, Avdiivka, Stepove, Novomykhailivka, and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.
Russian troops deploy air assault troops in the Lyman-Kupyansk direction
"Tensions escalated notably in the Kupyansk and Lyman sectors. It is evident that despite the resounding defeats inflicted by our defenders, the enemy is making efforts to reassemble its forces, reorganize, and target the most professional units, particularly air assault troops. The enemy remains steadfast in its intention to advance in these directions, despite the fact that they fail," added Maliar.
In addition, she noted that Ukrainian troops suffered almost 8,000 attacks on the eastern front over the past week.
"Almost 8,000 enemy attacks took place in the east last week. If we divide it by seven days, more than 1,000 attacks are made daily from artillery systems, the enemy also attacks with airplane shells. The enemy has used about 400,000 rounds of ammunition, so the fighting is very intense," said the Deputy Defense Minister.
