Ukrainian forces advance through most difficult section of Russian defense - ISW
Ukraine's Defense forces have made further tactical gains in the western part of the Zaporizhzhia region, and are likely to advance through a complex series of defensive positions established by the invading Russian troops
This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Experts have observed that, based on information from Ukrainian and American sources, the Ukrainian military is currently making progress in the most challenging defensive areas held by the Russian forces.
Recent geolocated footage, dated August 25, reveals that the Defense Forces have moved forward by 1.5 km to the southeast of Novoprokopivka, situated 13 km to the south of Orikhiv.
General Mark Milley, the Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, mentioned on August 25 that the Armed Forces are presently launching an offensive against the primary network of Russian defensive lines along the direction of the Ukrainian advance.
Specifically, it's been reported that on August 25, the Russian "milblogger" indicated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had initiated attacks in areas toward the rear defensive lines near Verbove, located 18 km southwest of Orikhiv. This suggests that Ukrainian military units might be nearing tactical rear lines within a sequence of Russian defensive positions that they are penetrating. Experts emphasize that these reports should not be misconstrued to mean that Ukrainian forces have achieved operational-level access to the Russian rear.
The report further outlines that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are now potentially within range of the subsequent series of prearranged Russian defensive positions. These positions could be comparatively less fortified than the previous defenses of the invaders but still pose a significant challenge.
What is happening with the Armed Forces in the Zaporizhzhia region
On August 21, the Defense Ministry said that our forces had success near Robotyne and south of Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The next day, August 22, the Ukrainian military did well near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia. They secured their positions there, while Russian soldiers were shifting their troops and bringing in backups.
Then, on Tuesday, August 22, soldiers from the 47th separate mechanized brigade entered the village of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia. They also helped civilians leave the area. A Ukrainian military officer, Viktor Burlyk, said that our troops have liberated Robotyne, but some Russian units were still close by.
By Wednesday, August 23, the soldiers from the 47th separate mechanized brigade proudly raised the Ukrainian flag with Zaluzhnyi's signature in Robotyne, towards Melitopol.
Later, on August 25, our Ukrainian forces kept pushing near Robotyne in the western part of Zaporizhzhya region. They made progress, and Russian military bloggers started worrying because they didn't see Russian reinforcements or rotations in that area.
