Ukraine harnesses technical capabilities to inflict unbearable losses on Russia in Black Sea — military expert Zgurets
Defense Express CEO and military expert Serhiy Zgurets have commented on the situation in the Black Sea, noting that Ukraine is integrating all its forces' technical capabilities to inflict intolerable damage on Russia
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Ukraine is now demonstrating non-standard approaches when it comes to finding ways to destroy the Russian military presence in Crimea and in the Black Sea," he said.
Zgurets recalled that when "the war began, Russian landing ships were on the raid in front of Odesa and Mykolaiv, threatening to land a sea assault."
"After a while, the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser Moskva, was destroyed by a Ukrainian Neptune cruise missile, after which all the landing ships withdrew from the raid in front of Odesa and Mykolaiv, and now we see that Ukraine is using other technical methods of destruction," he added.
The analyst emphasized that Ukrainian maritime drones of various designs have been added to the arcenal, both those developed by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and those developed by private companies that destroy Russian warships in the Black Sea.
"We have also aquired powerful foreign missiles called Storm Shadow, which actually struck the Russian Minsk battleship and a submarine that was stationed near Sevastopol. And this is a truly unique situation, because never in history has a cruise missile destroyed a submarine," Zgurets said.
He added that all this shows that Ukraine is now integrating all the technical capabilities of its troops to really inflict unacceptable damage on the enemy.
"And this means that the asymmetric actions of the Ukrainian side prove to the world that even with limited resources, Ukraine finds options to win both on land and at sea," the analyst emphasized.
Attacks on Russian vessels
On the night of September 13, Russia accused Ukraine of launching a massive missile attack on a shipyard in Sevastopol and damaging two ships. Ukrainian intelligence confirmed the damage to a large amphibious assault ship and a Russian submarine.
Ukrainian guerrillas also helped attack Russian vessels. They are collecting information and passing it on to Ukraine's special services.
The special operation to destroy the Rostov-on-Don submarine and the Minsk landing ship was carried out thanks to the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Another recent attack took place on September 14. The Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked two Project 22160 patrol ships of the Vasily Bykov type of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
Then the Ukrainian experimental drone Sea Baby shot down the Russian Samum missile ship.
