Ukraine traces route of Russian missile that struck children's hospital in Kyiv
Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) investigators have traced the route of the missile that Russia used to attack the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv on July 8
Serhii Naumiuk, Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, announced this at the international conference “United for Justice: Accountability for Attacks on Civilian Objects,” according to Ukrinform.
Naumiuk explained that the Kh-101 missile was launched at 09:15 from the Saratov region in Russia, 599 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. It was fired from a Tu-95MS aircraft that took off from a military airfield near Olenegorsk in Russia's Murmansk region at 06:30 the same day.
According to Naumiuk, the Kh-101 missile with serial number 3152637961012 was manufactured by the Raduga Design Bureau after 2021. He noted that on July 8, it entered Ukrainian airspace over the Chernihiv region. After reaching Konotop in the Sumy region, the missile turned right, changed direction, and flew towards Kyiv, where it struck the Okhmatdyt hospital.
“This flight trajectory indicates that the Main Computation Centre of Russia's General Staff programmed the missile’s flight mission to avoid Ukrainian air defense systems as safely as possible and hit the designated target,” added the deputy head of the SBU.
Naumiuk assured that the pre-trial investigation collected irrefutable evidence of the involvement of personnel from the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division of the Russian Aerospace Forces in this crime.
