Astounding scope of strikes: military expert Sniehyriov on Russia's attack on Ukraine
Military expert Dmytro Sniehyriov noted that Russia aimed to reach and strike predetermined targets. On August 26, 15 regions of Ukraine were attacked
Sniehyriov discussed this on Espreso TV.
“There were several waves of attacks, starting with Shahed drones, followed by cruise and ballistic missiles. The first wave hit around 01:00 at night, and the second wave began around 06:00 in the morning. This combined attack strategy was again used, mainly targeting Ukraine's energy facilities. Russia's goal is to strike predetermined targets. It’s notable that the strikes affected energy facilities across 15 regions of Ukraine,” the military expert explained.
He also mentioned that intelligence from the U.S. and Germany had warned of a possible Russian attack before August 24.
"We already know that several regions are experiencing significant problems with power and water supply. The tactic of targeting energy facilities is likely to continue. According to Russian military doctrine, the goal is to strike the enemy's energy infrastructure - in this case, Ukraine - to force a surrender. They will continue to use destructive weapons like cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and UAVs to create conditions for what they call 'the start of a peaceful dialogue,' but on Russia's terms,” Sniehyriov explained.
- Earlier this week, the U.S. stated it has intelligence on Russia's growing efforts to undertake night and day attacks using drones and missiles across Ukraine.
