
Trump, Starmer hold phone call ahead of U.S.-Ukraine talks
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed expectations regarding negotiations between the United States and Ukraine over the phone
The Guardian reported the information.
The UK Prime Minister’s spokesperson emphasized that Starmer expressed to Trump his hope that the negotiations would result in a positive outcome, allowing the restoration of U.S. military aid to Ukraine, as well as intelligence sharing.
At the same time, the head of the UK government told Trump that “UK officials had been speaking to Ukrainian officials over the weekend and they remain committed to a lasting peace.”
“The two leaders also spoke about the economic deal they had discussed at the White House, and the Prime Minister welcomed the detailed conversations that had already happened to move this forward. Both leaders agreed to stay in touch,” the spokesperson added.
What is known about the negotiations in Saudi Arabia
Zelenskyy confirmed his visit to Saudi Arabia and talks between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi announced that in Saudi Arabia, the Ukrainian, and American delegations will discuss bilateral relations, strategic partnership, and the path to peace.
Meanwhile, the U.S. plans to use the meeting with the Ukrainian delegation to assess whether Ukraine is willing to make material concessions to Russia in exchange for ending the war.
The U.S. Secretary of State expressed hope that Washington’s suspension of military aid could be “resolved” during crucial discussions in Saudi Arabia.
