European Parliament resolution to invite Ukraine to NATO
The European Parliament adopted a resolution to NATO calling for Ukraine's membership in the Alliance: with 425 votes in favor, 38 against and 42 abstentions.
"MEPs call on NATO allies to honour their commitment to Ukraine and pave the way for Kyiv to be invited to join the defence alliance," the statement reads.
The resolution says that MEPs expect the accession process to begin after the end of the war and "be finalised as soon as possible."
The statement also emphasizes that until membership is achieved, the EU, together with NATO allies and like-minded partners, should "work closely with Ukraine to develop a temporary framework for security guarantees." MEPs insist that they should be introduced immediately after the end of the war.
"Parliament emphasises that Ukraine’s integration in both NATO and the EU would enhance regional and global security and strengthen the bonds between Ukraine and the Euro-Atlantic community," the statement reads.
Ukrainian Armed Forces advance on eastern and southern sectors
The Ukrainian Defense Forces recaptured 7 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia direction, reclaiming control over 103 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. Ukrainian units advanced deep into Russia's defense by a range of 3 to 6.5 kilometers.
Colonel Mykola Urshalovych, deputy director of the department of planning and use at the Main Directorate of the Ukrainian National Guard, also reported partial success in the Orikhiv area, where National Guard units are conducting offensive operations as part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Hanna Maliar, Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister, said that over the past week and a half, Ukrainian troops have advanced more than 3 kilometers in the eastern front.
Ukrainian soldiers are being trained on 3 continents
More than 40 training centers have been established to train Ukrainian soldiers, involving 33 countries across 3 continents, said Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley.
He also mentioned that the US had trained a significant number of Ukrainian soldiers throughout the war, with 5,000 military operators currently engaged in training Ukraine's defenders.
He further stated that three tank battalions and two territorial national brigades were currently undergoing training. He concluded by mentioning their international efforts focused on supporting 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers during the ongoing operations.
The US, UK, Denmark, and the Netherlands will boost Ukraine's air defense
The US, the UK, Denmark and the Netherlands have announced an aid package for Ukraine's air defense, which will include hundreds of missiles and will be delivered within a few weeks.
The ministries of defense of Denmark, the Netherlands, the UK and the US have announced today that they are working together to deliver high-priority air defense equipment to Ukraine, addressing its most pressing air defense needs.
"The initiative will deliver hundreds of short and medium range air defence missiles and associated systems required to protect Ukraine’s critical national infrastructure and further ensure the success of counter-offensive operations in coming months," the statement said.
The government added that the supply of equipment has already begun and should be completed within a few weeks.
Bradley infantry fighting vehicle that saves lives
One of the Bradley infantry fighting vehicles was damaged by Grad MLRS, but the crew escaped and continued to perform their task.
"On a combat mission, the Bradley received a direct hit from a missile in the turret and caught fire. The crew safely evacuated," the 47th Brigade said.
As a result of the hit, one of the soldiers sustained a slight contusion. Bradley's mechanic-driver moved the armored vehicle to a safe position and extinguished the fire.
"This example proves that the outstanding combat survivability claimed by the armored vehicle manufacturer is not just words. Bradley helps to save the most valuable thing - the lives of military personnel. And steel can always be restored. There is no equipment that cannot be destroyed, there is equipment that saves lives," emphasized Ukraine’s Deputy Minister Maliar.
