Ukraine needs to reinforce Pokrovsk direction - Lieutenant General Romanenko
Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko says that the Russian forces lack the strength to advance simultaneously in all directions
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"The situation on the eastern front, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions, has reached a critical point. However, despite the difficult circumstances, there are elements of stabilization due to the redeployment of the Ukrainian Defense Forces reserves. The analysis shows that this happened not so much due to the formation of additional reserves as due to the movement of troops from other parts of the front," noted Romanenko.
According to the lieutenant general, Russia is moving reserves to the Kursk direction from the Kharkiv, Kupyansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia directions. There is no transfer of Russian reserves from the Pokrovsk direction, but the forces and means that were allocated to capture Pokrovsk are now being moved to the Kursk direction.
"The Russians lack the forces to advance simultaneously in all directions, which is a positive signal. We need to deploy additional forces to interrupt the enemy's offensive momentum in the coming weeks. It is also important to engage the means of destruction of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, in particular the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine and the Security Service, to help the troops in the Pokrovsk direction," emphasized Romanenko.
- Over the past day, 197 combat clashes took place at the front. Russian troops were most active in the Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Vremivka directions
- Serhiy Tsekhotskyi, an officer with the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, explained that Ukrainian forces withdrew from Novohrodivka in the Donetsk region due to its unfavorable geographical position.
