New level in intelligence: aviation expert on providing Ukraine with two Saab 340 aircraft
Aviation expert Bohdan Dolintse says that two Saab 340 long-range radar surveillance aircraft will be able to see the entire airspace up to 450 km in all directions in a simultaneous flight
He told about this on Espreso TV.
"This is a truly historic event, because Ukraine did not have its own fleet of long-range radar surveillance aircraft. In fact, this is a new level of intelligence in terms of detecting enemy targets and supporting the aviation industry. The second important component is why there are two aircraft? Because there is a certain flight cycle, meaning that this aircraft can perform tasks continuously in the air for 6-7 hours, and then it has to land and undergo a number of technical maintenance activities," the aviation expert said.
According to him, having two such aircraft, it is possible to launch them alternately, thus increasing the continuous flight time to 10-14 hours.
"The next important component is that each of these aircraft has a viewing angle of 120-140 degrees in both directions, maybe up to 150, but it depends on the conditions. And to have full 360-degree coverage, at least two aircraft must be flying at the same time. Accordingly, then these aircraft will see the entire airspace up to 450 km in all directions and no enemy aircraft or missile will be able to sneak up unnoticed," explained Bohdan Dolince.
- Sweden has presented the sixteenth and so far the largest aid package to Ukraine worth €1.16 billion. It includes aircraft, armoured vehicles, ammunition and tanks.
- Defence Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi noted that the Swedes are providing Ukraine with a radar surveillance aircraft to enable F-16s to better see enemy aircraft from the air defence system.
- Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer at the Information Resistance group, noted that the moment of the F-16's arrival in Ukraine is so close that you can already hear the roar of the engines.
