Russia deploys more Wagner fighters to Soledar

"Heavy fighting continues in Soledar," Maliar wrote.

The Deputy Minister of Defense reports that after suffering losses, the Russian army once again rotated its units. Russia deployed more Wagner mercenaries to Soledar.

"They are trying to break through the defense of our troops and completely capture the town, but are unsuccessful," emphasized Maliar.

• On January 9, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled Russian attacks near Soledar, Bakhmut, Marinka and 10 other settlements.
• British intelligence believes that Russian troops are trying to capture Soledar, Donetsk region, in order to surround Bakhmut located near this town.
• On January 10, Russian forces tried to attack Soledar from 3 directions, according to Defense Express CEO Serhiy Zgurets said on Espreso TV.
• On the same day, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Serhiy Cherevatyi said that Russia had fired 86 times at Soledar from artillery during the day.
• NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the battles for Bakhmut and Soledar, Donetsk region, show how important it is to strengthen military assistance to Ukraine.
