This is stated on the website of the German Ministry of Defense.

The Defense Ministers contact group's next meeting on the Ukrainian Defence will be held in the German Ramstein on January 20, 2023. The German Defense Ministry provided such data after a telephone conversation between German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on January 6.

It is reported that the main topic of the conversation was the current situation at the front and the provision of military assistance to Ukraine, in particular armored personnel carriers and the Patriot air defense system.

"Together with our allies, we once again demonstrate that we are united in supporting Ukraine, acting as one and in close coordination. Together we are stronger," said Christine Lambrecht.

  • On November 16, 2022, the 7th meeting of the Contact Group on Defence of Ukraine in the "Ramstein format" took place. Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that the protection of Ukrainian skies remains a priority for Ukraine at the meetings.

  • On December 21, the United States announced the decision to transfer Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. It is known that the Patriot air defense system is capable of shooting down cruise missiles, short-range ballistic missiles and aircraft at a much higher altitude than the air defense systems previously provided to Ukraine.

  • US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that at least six countries have announced further military assistance to Ukraine at Ramstein. It is about the supply of air defense systems, artillery, ammunition and winter equipment.

  • On January 5, US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a joint package of military assistance to Ukraine after telephone talks. In particular, Germany will join the United States in supplying Ukraine with an additional Patriot air defense system.

  • The next day it was reported that Germany wants to deliver about 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine in the next three months. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have to master it in 8 weeks.
