France considers transferring Leclerc tanks to Ukraine

French officials are considering transferring their own Leclerc battle tanks to Ukraine, particularly, to provide Berlin with a common platform for the supply of Leopard 2 tanks

This was reported by Politico, citing its own sources

French official claims who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity, the issue will be discussed at a joint meeting of French and German officials on Sunday, January 22.

"The subject is complicated and hasn’t been settled yet in Paris. But we are thinking about it," a French official told reporters before confirming the upcoming meeting on Sunday. "We’ll see what gets decided at the joint French-German Cabinet meeting."

Politico reported that Western officials fear that Ukraine has little time left before Russia launches a new, broader offensive and that this will likely require the supply of tanks to bolster its defense.
