Germany will allocate about €5 billion for military support to Ukraine
Ukraine and Germany have signed a nearly €5 billion agreement to fund the production of Ukrainian long-range weapons, strengthen air defense, and boost repair capabilities inside Ukraine
The German Ministry of Defense reported that in Berlin, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov signed an agreement to finance the production of Ukrainian long-range weapons.
The statement noted that a large number of long-range weapons will start being produced as early as 2025. Some of these systems will be ready for Ukraine’s armed forces within weeks.
Strengthening air defense
Germany will send additional batches of ammunition for various systems, including key air defense platforms. Ukraine will also receive more ground weapons and small arms.
Separately, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and the German defense company Diehl signed a contract for the delivery of air defense systems and ammunition.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, along with Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, plans to bring in more partners to support joint air defense efforts. The “Immediate Action on Air Defense” initiative, which has already raised about €1 billion, will now become “Continuous Action on Air Defense,” shifting toward long-term cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.
