
Merz confirms Ukraine’s allies lifted long-range weapon restrictions months ago
On Tuesday, May 27, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz confirmed that Ukraine’s allies lifted restrictions on the use of long-range weapons to strike targets deep inside Russia several months ago

He made the statement during a briefing in Turku, Finland.
"As far as I know, and as I reported yesterday, the countries that had range restrictions have abandoned these restrictions," Merz said.
According to him, Ukraine has had the ability to hit targets deep inside Russia for several months.

"I described what has been happening for months, namely that Ukraine has the right to use the weapons it receives, even beyond its own borders," the German Chancellor added.
The report noted that among the weapons already used by Ukrainian forces are self-propelled artillery systems and MARS II multiple launch rocket systems, which can strike targets more than 80 km away.
