"Destroying 10,000 solar power plants is very difficult": German Vice Chancellor proposes ways to counter Russia's energy terrorism
Germany is providing Ukraine with a package of 200 small and medium-sized generators. The country is also ready to provide all the necessary equipment it has to repair generation facilities
Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economy and Climate Protection of Germany, Robert Habeck, shared this information while on a working visit to Kyiv on April 18.
"This is terrible. I met with your Minister of Energy in the morning, he showed me photos, and photos alone are a real horror. And the numbers behind them are even more threatening. That is why we, Germany and Europe, are doing everything we can to support Ukraine," he said.
"We have a new package of 200 generators that are now coming to Ukraine. These are small and medium-sized generators, so they are coming to urban areas or maybe to villages to provide some households and some streets with energy," the Vice Chancellor added.
He also informed about the agreement between German and Ukrainian companies, under which Ukrainian specialists come to Germany, inspect power plants and select the equipment needed to repair generation facilities in Ukraine.
"Everything we can deliver, we deliver," emphasized Habeck.
In addition, he noted that Ukraine should increase its "green" generation.
"It is very difficult to destroy 10,000 solar power plants. One power plant is a target, 10,000 solar power plants are very difficult to attack... So if you hurry up, you can do a lot of things in three or four months. And I think that especially in summer, solar energy can also help Ukraine," the German official summarized.
